Professional Membership

I have been a member of the UK Society of Indexers since 2003 and between 2004 and 2009 was actively involved in the Society's 'Consultative Council' representing the views of indexers who live in my part of the country. I am co-ordinator of the 'West Anglia' group: indexers and trainees who live in the same area and meet up regularly for social events.

Subject Specialisms

  • I specialise in indexing Psychology books. My other specialism is Information and Computer Technology.
  • However, I am happy to index school books in any subject from Key Stage 2 up to and including A level.
  • For academic books in any of the social sciences I can index up to and including degree level.
  • It makes a welcome change to index books for the general reader in any subject.

Clients I have worked for include:

Leisure Interests

  • For an intellectual challenge I enjoy learning new languages. I have so far studied French and German to GCSE level and have some conversational Greek, Italian and Spanish.
  • I have a lifelong love of music, playing and occasionally teaching the piano. I also play the flute in an adult windband. Recently I have started learning to play the saxophone and guitar.
  • My exercise consists of dancing, walking, cycling, badminton and working on my allotment. Balance and stress relief are absolutely essential and for this I do Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates
  • For less active relaxation I enjoy watching movies, going to the theatre and listening to live folk music.
  • Social contact is very important. I belong to a local group called Women in Self Employment (WISE) whose aim is to share ideas and to provide support through the ups and downs of being self-employed.
